Commission announces road map for successful implementation of national dialogue
Addis Ababa, December 12, 2022 (FBC) – The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission unveiled a road map to ensure the national dialogue process to be successful.
The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission discussed with religious leaders, handicaped people’s associations, youths and political parties representatives regarding the participation in the dialogue process and the process of agenda gathering.
The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commissioner, Yonas Addaye, stated that the commission has strengthened its preparations to create a national consensus.
He said that the commission has taken a number of valuable inputs through discussions with elders, political parties, civic associations, mass media and regional authorities to carry out its work effectively.
He indicated that currently preparations are underway to hold discussions at kebele, woreda, zone and region levels. He also announced that a useful road map has been prepared for this purpose.
ENA reported that since the dialogue process cannot reach out many districts at the same time, a road map has been prepared to make the process accessible.
Referring to the fact that the National Dialogue Commission is preparing to open offices in universities to facilitate its work, the Commissioner explained that discussions were held with all government universities and an agreement was reached.
Melake-Mehret Zekarias, Manager of the Diocese of Yeka and Lemi-Kura Sub-cities, Addis Ababa, said that “the God’s teaching dictates that human beings should live in love and unity”, and reminded everyone to prepare from the heart for dialogue and cooperation.
Getachew Zewde, who was present on behalf of the Elderly Association, said that they have accepted the responsibility given to them by the Commission, expressing readiness to work for its implementation.
