City inaugurates a 1.6bln Birr drinking water projects

Addis Ababa, May 26, 2021 (FBC) – Addis Ababa City has today inaugurated several drinking water projects built at a cost of 1.6 Billion Birr.

On the inaugural ceremony, Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa, Adanech Abiebie said the city administration has managed to effectively complete close to 1,000 social infrastructure projects during the concluding Ethiopian budget year.

Project are said to have a capacity of discharging a total of 90,000 cubic meter of potable water.

City Administrant has so far made operational deep drilled groundwater projects with a capacity of up to 22,000 cubic meter discharge in areas where there was severe shortage of drinking water, it is stated on the occasion.

The new projects will increase potable water production of the city administration from 574,000 to 664, 000 cubic meter on daily basis, it is stated on the inaugural ceremony.
