CIFF vows to advocate globally for Ethiopia pursuant to its long-term strategy

Addis Ababa, August 21, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s Minister of State for Finance, Ms. Semereta Sewasew, held a discussion on Tuesday with a delegation led by Kate Hampton, CEO of the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) at the Ministry of Finance.

On the occasion, State Minister Semereta appreciated the consistent support of CIFF and she briefed the delegation about the recently launched deep macro-economic reform in her country.

She highlighted the ongoing climate adaptation and mitigation efforts, including the climate budget tracking system and the special fund for land degradation and restoration.

Mrs. Hampton, on her part, expressed CIFF’s commitment to continue its initiatives and explore further support avenues, particularly in addressing global financial challenges and exogenous shocks. She emphasized her organization’s interest in advocating globally for Ethiopia’s position, aligning their long-term strategy with complex issues like climate change and taxation.

Both sides concluded the meeting by agreeing to strengthen cooperation and explore innovative partnerships.
