Chinese textile, garment companies encouraged to intensify investment in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, July 1, 2023 (FBC) – During the “China-Africa Textile and Apparel Investment and Trade Symposium” which was held today as a part of the 3rd China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Changsha City, Ambassador of Ethiopia to China, Tefera Deribew, calls up on Chinese textile, apparel and garment manufacturers to intensify their investment in Ethiopia.

The symposium was attended by Vice-Minister of Commerce of China, Li Fei and Ministers and Ambassadors of the several African countries.

In his keynote address Ambassador Tefera noted, textile and apparel as a key manufacturing industry resonates success of Chinese companies’ investment in Africa.

While emphasizing the potential of value addition that could be created along with job creation, he highlighted Ethiopia’s target to become a leading textile and apparel manufacturing hub in Africa by 2030.

Furthermore, Ambassador explained about Ethiopia’s conducive investment environment and the lucrative business opportunities that exist in textile and apparel sector.
