Chinese Foreign Minister to Visit Germany, France, Spain from February 16-21 – Beijing
MOSCOW, February 15 (Sputnik) – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will participate in the Munich Security Conference in Germany and pay official visits to France and Spain from February 16-21 to promote comprehensive cooperation, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Thursday.
“From February 16 to 21, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC [the Communist Party of China] Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi will attend the 60th Munich Security Conference, visit Spain and France, and hold the China-France Strategic Dialogue in France,” Mao said in a statement released by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
On the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, which runs from February 16-18 this year, the top Chinese diplomat is planning to address various issues related to Beijing and “elaborate on China’s position on major international issues,” the spokeswoman added.
While in France, Wang intends to use the China-France strategic dialogue to “deepen strategic communication, consolidate political mutual trust, advance practical cooperation and people-to-people and cultural exchanges,” Mao told a press conference.
During his visit to Spain, the Chinese foreign minister hopes to “consolidate mutual trust, enhance friendship, promote cooperation and enrich the China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership,” the spokeswoman said, adding that the visit to Spain would be Wang’s first in nearly six years.
