China’s Jihua Group says ready to exploit investment opportunities in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, November 19, 2024 (FBC) – China’s Jihua Group, a leading supplier of military clothing, shoes, hats, ammunition, and defense equipment to China’s defense sector, is ready to take advantage of the investment opportunities in Ethiopia’s military clothing, footwear, hats, and bulletproof vest industry.

During their visit in Addis Ababa, the delegation met with the Ethiopian Minister of Industry, Mr. Melaku Alebel, who provided them with an overview of Ethiopia’s vast workforce, favorable investment policies, ready-to-operate industrial parks, tax incentives, duty-free opportunities, and other advantageous operating systems for foreign investors.

Mr. Melaku emphasized that Ethiopia is abundant in raw materials such as cotton, leather, and iron ore, and highlighted the country’s large market potential with a population of 120 million.

He also elucidated that Ethiopia’s geographical location, the opportunity for a free market in Africa, the extensive accessibility of Ethiopian Airlines in Africa, and Addis Ababa being a diplomatic hub on the continent, present favorable market opportunities for Jihua Group.

The Minister noted that Ethiopia and China have strong economic, social, and educational cooperation and relations, and assured Jihua Group of his ministry’s support in their investment endeavors in Ethiopia. He also mentioned the cooperation of the two countries in the BRICS platform.

In response, the delegates of Jihua Group expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome they received and said that they are interested to take advantage of the investment opportunities in Ethiopia.
