China supports efforts to rebuild Tigray: Official
Addis Ababa, December 11, 2020 (FBC) – Ambassador of Ethiopia to China, Teshome Toga today held talks with Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Deng Li on the current situations in Ethiopia and bilateral relations.
In their discussion, Ambassador Teshome commended China’s unwavering stance on the law enforcement operation in the Tigray region, its opposition to third-party intervention in Ethiopia’s internal affairs, and support to African’s motto of “African Solution to African Problems”.
The operation is now over, he said, and the government is rebuilding Tigray and cooperate with the interim administration of Tigray to ensure stability, peace, and security in the region and provide humanitarian assistance to those in need.
Deng Li, on his part, reiterated that China is confident that the Ethiopian government would continue to maintain its sovereignty and independence in resolving its domestic affairs.
China supports the ongoing efforts to rebuild Tigray and establish a regional government structure and provide assistance to those in need, he added.
Recalling that the relationship between Ethiopia and China has elevated to a higher level of Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership (CSCP), Ambassador Teshome vowed to give impetus to the relations.
Deng Li affirmed that in addition to the strong and comprehensive bilateral relations, the two countries should continue to work together for mutual benefits.
