China reiterates commitment to strengthen support to Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, January 24, 2021 (FBC) – Speaker of the House of Federation (HoF), Adem Farah, today held talks with Ambassador of China to Ethiopia, Zhao Zhiyuan.

During the discussion, the Speaker briefed the ambassador about the ongoing socio-political reforms and the encouraging gains made from the homegrown economic reform program.

The ties between the two countries, which date back more than 50 years ago, have registered remarkable socio-economic, political and diplomatic results, he said.

He also praised Chinese investors for their contribution in creating jobs for Ethiopians and also the Chinese Government for assisting Ethiopia’s efforts of fighting COVID-9 pandemic

The Speaker further said Ethiopia will work to strengthen the China-Africa relations.

The newly appointed Chinese Ambassador Zhao Zhiyuan for his part commended Ethiopia’s comprehensive reform and added, his country will continue to strengthen its multifaceted support to the Government of Ethiopia.

In particular, the Chinese Government is committed to assist Ethiopia’s infrastructure development activities, he said.
