China pledges unwavering support for peace, prosperity in Horn of Africa
Addis Ababa, June 13, 2023 (FBC) – Executive Secretary of Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Workneh Gebeyehu (PhD) has received Ambassador Xue Bing, China’s Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa.
The Special Envoy took the opportunity of his visit to congratulate Workineh upon the vote of confidence from the IGAD Assembly of Heads of State and Government that confirmed him for a 2nd term.
In his remarks on the 14th Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government in Djibouti yesterday, Ambassador Xue Bing commended IGAD’s critical role in regional affairs, reaffirming China’s unwavering support for the region’s efforts for peace and prosperity, according to Wu Peng, Director General of Department of African Affairs in Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.
Ambassador has also welcomed IGAD to join the “Outlook on Peace and Development in the Horn of Africa” put forward by China aimed at supporting countries in the region.
Ambassador Xue Bing attended the 14th Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government in Djibouti on Monday.
