China-Africa TVET collaboration forum underway in Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa, October 22, 2023 (FBC) – The China-Africa technical and vocational education and training collaboration and academic exchange forum is being held in Addis Ababa, the Ministry of Labor and Skills of Ethiopia (MoLS) disclosed.
Addressing the opening session of the forum, Minister of State for Labor and Skills, Mr. Teshale Berecha, said that the event is a demonstration of the implementation of the agreement made to strengthen China-Africa bilateral relations.
He acknowledged that China has scaled-up its support in the areas of human resource development, technology transfer and trainer teachers’ training of TVET colleges.
Highlighting the pivotal role of TVET to the current development of China, Director General of the China-Africa TVET Partnership, Mark Gong Zhou, reminded that the sector has played an important role in contemporary China’s development.
He also pointed out that the sector has offered a significant contribution to the country’s economic growth and job creation for citizens.
Mr. Mark added that China is providing various trainings including technology transfer in technical and vocational field in Ethiopia.
Affirming continued support to Africa in the sector, Mr. Mark noted that his country has been providing various trainings in the field of technical and vocational skills, including transfer of technologies.
