China affirms commitment to support Ethiopia’s efforts to realize 10 years dev’t plan

Addis Ababa, October 22, 2024 (FBC) – The Embassy of China in Addis Ababa organized a seminar entitled “New Opportunities for China-Ethiopia Cooperation in the Joint Pursuit of Modernization” today.

In his remarks at the Seminar, Mr. Wu Yan, Vice Minister of Education of China, appreciated the relationship between Ethiopia and his country growing stronger and stronger.

Mr. Wu Yan stated China is committed to enhance its cooperation with Ethiopia in in pursuing modernization which he said crucial to take the ties between the two countries to the next level.

He said that Ethiopia has been advancing its economic growth under the leadership of Prime Minister, pledging the commitment of his country to cement the ties in multifaceted areas.

Mr. Wu Yan asserted that China is ready to help Ethiopia in realizing its 10 year development plan.

China is committed to share its best experiences in the socio-economic development sector with Ethiopia, highlighting the education, science, trade, industrialization, investment and green transition sectors as key priorities in this regard.

“The relationship between China and Ethiopia is booming at both government to government and party two party levels,” he said, pledging to capitalize on the growing partnership.”

“The emerging multipolar world is a fertile ground for China and Ethiopia to further strengthen their partnership at international level,” he noted, adding “We share multi common aspirations for happiness, development and prosperity out peoples.”

Tesfahun Gobezay, Deputy Head of the Prosperity Party, for his part, noted that the bilateral relationship between Ethiopia and China dates back to more than half a century, commending the multifaceted cooperation between the countries as strong and flourishing.

China is a close and reliable development partner for Ethiopia, he said, appreciating the role of Chinese investments in the economic landscape of the country.

China is the first largest source country of Foreign Direct Investment in Ethiopia, pledging government’s commitment to further enhance the ties in economic, diplomatic and political spheres.
