Charge d’Affaires Ambassador Jacobson meets with President of Somali Region, Mustafe Omer
Addis Ababa, April 26, 2022 (FBC) – Charge d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ambassador Tracey Jacobson met with President of Somali Region, Mustafa Omer and other regional officials.
The Ambassador traveled to the region with Deputy Mission Director of USAID, Adam Schmidt today to visit U.S. Government-funded development projects in the region.
In Gode Zone, the ambassador and her delegation met with regional officials and visited the U.S. Government-funded development projects in the area.
The delegation has also visited the Higlo internally displaced persons (IDP) Camp and other US funded emergency food assistance to the community and resilience activities in the area.
The Ambassador stated that her delegation is there to assess and learn about the drought in the region and discuss with regional officials on how to address the issue.
Ambassador Jacobson vowed that the U.S. will continue offering support to alleviate the impacts of what is now called ‘the worst drought in decades.
