Chapa launches online payment gateway service for businesses
Addis Ababa, September 21, 2022 (FBC) – Ethiopian fintech startup, Chapa, has launched an online payment gateway that enables businesses to accept payments from people worldwide.
The Ethiopian Fintech Startup enables organizations and businesses to accept all possible local and international digital payment methods from anywhere in the world. Its payment APIs can be integrated into any existing digital platform.
Nael Hailemariam, Chapa Co-founder and CEO, said: “Chapa’s mission is to empower Ethiopian entrepreneurs and businesses to thrive in the global economy. This launch formally establishes our entry into Ethiopia’s financial sector, and we look forward to expanding our fingerprint on the development of the digital ecosystem across East Africa in phase two and the rest of Africa in phase three.”
“In a short time, we have been able to demonstrate our impact by making a difference in critical national causes. We look forward to continuing to engage with various stakeholders and pursuing our CSR mission,” Hailemariam added.
Essentially and primarily focusing on fixing and providing solutions for payment & transaction issues that are predominant in developing countries, mainly in East Africa, Chapa has acquired and established holy-grail tools, exclusive techniques, and methodologies to ensure the production of qualified hi-tech fixes for its customers, he said
According to the CEO, to connect with the youth on a deeper yet light-spirited humor, it only made sense to come up with vernacular way of saying “Money” – and with that motive, the name Chapa came to life.
Established in 2020 and headquartered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia by a team of home-grown engineers, researchers, and entrepreneurs, as per Africa Tech.
