Bureau announces a 1 Billion Birr debt cancellation
Addis Ababa, May 13, 2020 (FBC) – Amhara Regional State Revenue Bureau has announced a cancellation of income tax debt amounting 1 Billion Birr.
The tax debt cancellation is aimed to back the business community hit by the coronavirus pandemic fallout there by ensure quick economic recovery in the region.
More than 21,000 business persons who failed to pay their taxes in time owing to several factors have been benefited from the debt cancellation, the revenue bureau head Bizuayehu Biazin said.
The income tax debt forgiveness include 288 million Birr debt owed by more than 7,000 business between 1999/2000 and 2000/2001 Ethiopian fiscal year, and 784,000 Birr owed by 14,000 tax payers from 2000 to 2003 budget year in the region, the bureau indicted.
