BRSCOPs2023 elect Ethiopia as a member of an expert group on DDT

Addis Ababa, May 9, 2023 (FBC) – The Meetings of the Conferences of the Parties to the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions (BRSCOPs2023) taking place in Geneva Switzerland elected Ethiopia as a member of an expert group on Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane commonly known as DDT, to serve in different capacities.

Girma Gemechu from Ethiopian Environmental Protection Authority (EEPA) elected as a member of the expert group of the Stockholm convention.

The group mandated for four years will undertake an assessment of scientific, technical, environmental, and economic information related to DDT and reports its recommendations to the Conference of the Patties (COPs).

Ethiopian delegation led by Frenesh Mekuria, Deputy Director General of the Ethiopian Environmental Protection Authority (EEPA) is participating in the Meetings of the Conferences of the Parties to the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm conventions (BRSCOPs2023) that have been undertaking from 1-12 May 2023, in Geneva, Switzerland.
