Benelux delegates commend gov’t’s efforts to consolidate peace in Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, March 22, 2023 (FBC) – Delegates of Benelux countries praised the government of Ethiopia for its commitment to consolidating peace and stability in the country.
Mesganu Arga, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, held a discussion with the Director Generals for Political Affairs of Benelux countries (Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg) this afternoon.
Mesganu briefed the Director Generals on the current state of affairs in Ethiopia. He reaffirmed that his Government is committed to the full implementation of the Pretoria Peace Agreement, provision of humanitarian assistance, rehabilitation and reconstruction of conflict-affected regions.
He also highlighted the transitional justice policy options espoused by the Government in a bid to solidify the peace process.
The Director Generals, for their part, commended the efforts of the Ethiopian Government to ensure peace and stability in the country. They expressed their appreciation for the recent commencement of the National Dialogue as well as the launch of the Transitional Justice Policy.
Furthermore, they also expressed the readiness of their respective States to further deepen multifaceted ties bilaterally as well as through EU institutions, as per MFA Ethiopia.
