BEAEKA, Shacman set to start assembling heavy trucks in Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, February 23, 2023 (FBC) – BEAEKA General Business PLC and Shacman, an international automotive manufacturing company, announced today that they are set to start assembling heavy machinery and vehicles in Ethiopia.
The joint launching event of the two companies was held at Friendship Park in Addis Ababa.
Speaking at the event, Michael Kasa, managing director of BEAEKA General Business PLC, said that the work of assembling machinery and vehicles will be undertaken in collaboration with Shacman Group.
The director recalled that the implementation agreement was designed with three implementation phases. In the first phase, the two companies will assemble 1,500 heavy trucks and provide them to the market.
In the second phase, he mentioned that the plan is to assemble 3,000 heavy vehicles per year.
The managing director said that in addition to vehicle assembly and manufacturing, knowledge and professional skills transfer and manpower training will also be carried out.
Indicating that among those being assembled, Cassoni, Lobed, sewage cargo vehicle and Hybed are heavy vehicles, Mickael said that they will start supplying them to the market in the next 45 days.
The launching ceremony was attended by Minister of Industry, Melaku Alebel, executives of Shacman Group and other senior government officials.
