Awash – Woldia SGR tunnels construction fully completed

Addis Ababa, November  2, 2020 (FBC) – Construction of twelve tunnels of the Awash – Woldia Standard Gauge Railway has been fully completed and made ready for services, Ministry of Transport stated.

The tunnels which have been built across the standard gauge railway have a total of 10 Km length, according to the ministry.

The longest tunnel situated near to Woldia town covers around 3 Km span, it is indicated.

The construction of the Awash – Woldia Standard Gauge Railway has reached 91 pct completion, the Ministry disclosed.

Awash-Weldia is a railway extension project stretching 394km, which starts in the North East of the city of Awash, arriving at Weldia via the city of Kombolcha.
