Authority seizes fake masks, sanitizers

Addis Ababa, April 29, 2020 (FBC) –The Addis Ababa Food, Medicine and Health Care Administration and Control Authority said it has seized more than 33, 000 pieces of fake masks and 4, 452 liters of hand sanitizers.

Debrework Getachew, Deputy Director General of the authority, said measures have been taken against 147 drugstores that were found selling fake products taking advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to him, more than 22 small and micro enterprises have received certificates of competence from the Ethiopian Conformity and Assessment Enterprise to start manufacturing hand sanitizers.
