Authority gets $9.3mln environment protection project grant
Addis Ababa, June 22, 2023 (FBC) – A 9.3 million USD project grant agreement was signed for the implementation of the FDRE Environmental Protection Authority’s integrated environmental protection and development project to be implemented in the next five years, the Ministry of Finance of Ethiopia confirmed.
It is stated that the project includes climate inclusive institutional capacity building, access to climate compatible technology, integrated land management and expansion of income source options.
The Ministry indicated that the project will be implemented in selected regions and woredas across Ethiopia.
Of the total grant, 8.9 million USD will be received from Global Environment Facility (GEF) for the implementation of the project and 400,000 USD dollars will be covered by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The financial support agreement was signed by the Minister of State for Finance Semereta Sewasew, the Director General of the Ethiopian Environmental Protection Authority, Getahun Garedew and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Ethiopia Resident Representative, Turhan Saleh.
