AU hybrid seminar underway in Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa, February 23, 2023 (FBC) – Addis Ababa University’s Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) in collaboration with Institute for Security Studies (ISS Africa) is hosting today a post-AU hybrid seminar at Sheraton Hotel, in Addis Ababa.
According to IPSS, the seminar is being held under the theme “36th AU Summit: Confronting Africa’s Security Challenges?”
IPSS, in its social media post, indicated that panellists, including Ambassador Assoumani Youssouf Mondoha, Ambassador of Comoros to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the AU (TBC), Joseph Atta-Mensah, Principal Policy Adviser, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Addis Ababa, and Liesl Louw-Vaudran, Senior Adviser, International Crisis Group, are taking part in the hybrid seminar.
The seminar aims to discuss major outcomes of the Summit and their implications on Africa’s policy response in 2023, IPSS said.
Deliberations will centre on three aspects of the Summit’s many deliberations the theme of the year for 2023, the Chairship of the Union in 2023 and overview of decisions from the Summit, it added.
IPSS also stated that the seminar is reflecting on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and what is expected in a year dedicated to its acceleration.
