AU extends Obasanjo’s mandate to the HoA
Addis Ababa, September 11, 2022 (FBC) – The African Union confirmed that it has extended the mandate of Horn of Africa’s envoy, Olusegun Obasanjo, who is leading Ethiopia’s peace efforts to end the northern conflict under the patronage of AU.
The move comes despite the terrorist TPLF’s belittling of the role of Obasanjo in any negotiations to end the brutal war that the group itself initiated and continued for almost two years.
“I reiterated my full confidence in him and encouraged his continued engagement with both parties and international actors to work towards peace and reconciliation in Ethiopia and the region,” AU Commission chief Moussa Faki Mahamat said on Twitter after meeting with Obasanjo.
Ethiopian government always showed its commitment and readiness to peaceful end to the conflict, mediated by AU, despite the terrorist group’s belligerence.
