AU condemns killing of innocent civilians in west Wollege zone

Addis Ababa, November 3, 2020 (FBC) -The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, strongly condemned the killing of innocent civilians in west Wollege zone, Oromia regional state.

In a statement issued today, the Chairperson extended his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wished speedy recovery to the wounded.

He also called on national authorities to ensure that the perpetrators of these heinous crimes are found and held accountable, according to the statement.

The Chairperson further encouraged political actors in the country to resolve their differences through dialogue and build a national consensus around key issues.

He reaffirmed the AU’s support to the reforms initiated by the Government and stands ready to assist Ethiopia in its efforts to promote peace and stability in the country.
