Athlete Megertu Alemu Wins Valencia Marathon
Addis Ababa, December 1, 2024 (FBC) – Athlete Megertu Alemu, who was predicted to win the Valencia Marathon held this morning, has won.
The athlete took 2 hours, 16 minutes, 49 seconds to complete the race.
Another Ethiopian athlete, Tirueye Mesfin, who participated in the race, finished third. Ugandan Stella Chesand also took the second place.
It is worth noting that Ethiopian athletes also finished in the lead in the Valencia race held last year.
At that time, athlete Workesh Degefa came in first, while another Ethiopian athlete Almaz Ayana came in second and athlete Hiwot Gebrekidan came in third.
The current Valencia Marathon women’s record holder is athlete Amane Beriso, who set a new record by completing the distance in 2 hours, 14 minutes and 58 seconds in the race held two years ago.
