Ankara Declaration the right step in forging stronger cooperation between Ethiopia, Somalia: Pres. Taye
Addis Ababa, December 12, 2024 (FMC) – The FDRE President Taye Atske-Selassie emphasized that the Ankara Declaration signed between Ethiopia and Somalia in Türkiye is the right step in forging stronger regional cooperation between the peoples of the two countries.
The “Ankara Declaration” was signed by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali of Ethiopia and President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia on December 11, 2024 in Ankara, under the auspices of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye.
In light of this development, several partners, including the European Union (EU), IGAD (Intergovernmental Authority on Development), and the African Union Commission (AUC), have welcomed the agreement signed between the two nations.
Accordingly, President Taye also praised the agreement signed between the two neighboring nations.
In a message published on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the President noted that the Ankara Declaration is also vital in deepening cooperation in the greater Horn of Africa and beyond.
