Ankara Declaration is the outcome of strong diplomatic engagements – Minister
Addis Ababa, December 18, 2024 (FMC) – Minister of Transport and Logistics Mr. Alemu Sime stated that the Ankara Declaration between Ethiopia and Somalia to resolve differences through friendship and mutual trust is the result of strong diplomatic activities.
The Minister made this remark in a meeting that brought together officials of the Ministry of Transport and Logistics and affiliated institutions to discuss current national issues.
Mr. Alemu hailed Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s commitment in finding solutions to Ethiopia’s long overdue and legitimate pursuit of access to the sea.
Reminding the legitimacy of his country’s quest to gain access to sea port, the Minister said that the recent results achieved in the fields of diplomacy, politics and economy is testament that Ethiopia is on the right path of transformation.
Recalling the sacrifices made by Ethiopian peacekeepers for Somalia’s peace and stability, Alemu is adamant that the agreement made in Ankara with Somalia has shamed adversaries who are trying to undermine Ethiopia’s role in East Africa.
