Addis Ababa, March 5, 2024 (FBC) – Zambia Army Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff, Major General Geoffrey Choongo Zyeele, has led a delegation of senior officers on a benchmarking tour of the Ethiopian Defence Force, garnering praise for Zambia Army’s commitment to modernising its operations.
The delegation on Monday visited the Ethiopian Peacekeeping Training Center, where they exchanged best practices in peacekeeping operations.
The Zambia Army delegation also explored educational frameworks at the Ethiopian Defence Command and Staff College to enhance training methodologies back in Zambia.
Maj Gen Zyeele said on the occasion Zambia Army is earnestly pursuing modernisation efforts calling the experiences from Ethiopian National Defense Force crucial to this end.
Maj Gen Zyeele emphasised the importance of knowledge sharing with counterparts, citing Ethiopia’s Defence Force as a model of modernisation on the African continent.
The interactions between Zambia Army delegation and its Ethiopian counterparts underscored Zambia’s vision of modernising and enhancing productivity of the Defence Force, he noted.
The Zambia Army delegation is set to visit the Defence Industries, International Organisations, and other institutions in Ethiopia to further its modernisation agenda.
