Youths from East African Countries plant tree seedlings at Entoto Park, Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, July 7, 2021 (FBC) – Youths drawn from East Africa Standby Force (EASF) member countries have planted thousands of tree seedlings at Entoto Park, Addis Ababa.

They youths have also attended experience sharing platform on peace-building and security organized in partnership by EASF and the Ethiopian Youth Federation.

Role of youths in building peace and supporting development initiatives in members countries has been the central agenda of the platform where participants have exchanged views on best practices of nations.

High ranking government officials including EASF Director Brig.-Getachew Shiferaw, the Agriculture State Minister Sani Redi and State Minister of Women, Children and Youths Minister of Ethiopia Hiwot Hailu have attended the tree planting session.

The  EASF Director Brig.-Getachew Shiferaw have expressed gratitude to the government of Ethiopia for making youths of the member countries part of the Green Legacy Initiative pledging the commitment to expand the program in the region.

Ethiopia has already started this year’s Green Legacy Initiative in a way to plant 6 Billion tree seedlings in the country and additional 1 Billion in neighboring countries.
