Addis Ababa, October 29, 2024 (FBC) – World Bank reiterates commitment to support Ethiopia’s efforts to establish a foundation for an inclusive economic recovery and transformation, aimed at benefiting all citizens of Ethiopia
This was disclosed after a meeting between Ethiopia’s Finance Minister Mr. Ahmed Shide and the World Bank’s Managing Director for Operations Ms. Anna Bjerde, on the sideline of the 2024 WB and IMF Annual Meetings in Washington D.C
The Minister acknowledged the World Bank’s critical analytical and financial contribution towards Ethiopia’s ambitious homegrown reform agenda, including on fiscal, financial and monetary policies as well as social safety net interventions, as part of the pro poor reform measures.
On her part, Ms. Anna Bjerde reaffirmed the WB’s commitment to support Ethiopia’s efforts to establish a foundation for an inclusive economic recovery and transformation, aimed at benefiting all citizens of Ethiopia.
The MD highlighted the WB’s continued commitment and readiness to support Ethiopia’s universal access to energy ambition and its national program in the human development sector, including on quality of Education, and private sector development, in view of the current favorable environment for private investments.
The two sides agreed to expand the discussion further on these topics during the MD’s upcoming visit to Ethiopia in January 2025.
