Addis Ababa, April 17, 2024 (FBC) – The data center facility, constructed by Wingu Africa Group Limited in Ethiopia at a cost of 50 million USD, has attained certification for compliance with international standards.
The center, accredited with the “Tier III” standard, is poised to deliver secure, rapid, and dependable information services to both governmental and private entities. Notably, it stands as the first-ever company in Ethiopia to achieve Tier III certification for its facility situated in the ICT Park from the Uptime Institute, the preeminent global arbiter of data center benchmarks.
In his remark during a media briefing, Minister of State for Innovation and Technology, Yishrun Alemayehu, has articulated that the center’s certification will not only bolster competitiveness in the global market but also expedite Ethiopia’s digital transition.
On his part, Anthony Voscarides, CEO of Wingu Africa Group, expressed that the certification heralds a significant milestone in Ethiopia’s digital transformation trajectory. He further highlighted that it will empower Ethiopia to augment its technological prowess and vie on the international stage.
