Addis Ababa, April 26, 2023 (FBC) – The town of Metema Yohannes in West Gondar Zone of the Amhara Region is hosting a number of foreign nationals fleeing the conflict in Sudan.
Due to the conflict in the neighboring country Sudan, citizens of different countries are entering Ethiopia through Metema Yohannes town of the western Gondar Zone.
According to the Amhara Communication Bureau, in the wake of the unrest in Sudan, nationals of 23 countries, including citizens of Sudan, who fled the conflict in the city of Khartoum and other parts of Sudan, have entered Ethiopia and moving to the areas of their interest in the country.
From 15-20 buses are transporting the evacuees to Gondar City every day. Evacuees include children and women.
Government officials and security forces are carrying out humanitarian activities so that citizens can reach their desired areas with safe condition.
