Wenchi-Dendi ecotourism project manifestation of Medemer: Premier

Addis Ababa, January 13, 2024 (FBC) – The completion of Wenchi-Dendi Ecotourism project is a manifestation of Medemer and proof that it is possible to carry out a big scheme within a short period of time, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) said during the inauguration of Wenchi-Dendi Eco Tourism Village today.

The premier made the remark today, inaugurating the Wenchi-Dendi Ecotourism project, which is part of the Dine for Nation initiative.

African Union Commission Chairperson, Moussa Faki Mahamat, Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Executive Secretary, Workneh Gebeyehu, and members of the diplomatic corps attended the inauguration ceremony.

According to the PM, the fact that Wenchi-Dendi Ecotourism project was built with resources collected from different parts of the country, and that the experts and the coordinators came from different areas showed Medemer in practice.

Medemer means growing together, he noted, adding that Medemer is crucial for ensuring Ethiopia’s prosperity.

The Wenchi-Dendi Ecotourism project would enable to interconnect the development of Wenchi and surrounding areas, he said.

The Wenchi-Dendi Ecotourism project has infrastructures that have created favorable conditions for businesspersons to invest in the ecotourism.

The prime minister stressed that the project has demonstrated efficiency of project implementation with quality in a short period of time.

Abiy further stated that there is a need to do a big work that connects Ambo with Wenchi-Dendi Lake and Weliso, ENA reported.

The premier also urged the regional government to work diligently to make businesspersons invest in the Wenchei-Dendi area and the communities to protect the natural resources.

Noting that there is nothing that will stop the government from ensuring the journey of prosperity, he said it will further strive to complete the various development works in the country in a short period of time.
