WB Executives due in Ethiopia for working visit

Addis Ababa, December 6, 2023 (FBC) – Anna Bjerde, the Managing Director Operations (MDO) of the World Bank, along with Victoria Kwakwa, World Bank Vice President for Eastern and Southern Africa, will visit Ethiopia from December 7-8, 2023.

Their visit, according to the Ministry of Finance, aims to enhance support for the people of Ethiopia and strengthen the collaborative relationship between the Government of Ethiopia and the World Bank.

It is also learned that the World Bank officials will engage in high-level meetings with government officials and development partners.

They will also have an opportunity to visit an Urban Productive Safety Net and Jobs Project (UPSNJP) site to engage with beneficiaries to better understand the impact of the project.

The visit to UPSNJP site highlights the World Bank’s commitment to addressing the needs of vulnerable urban communities in Ethiopia. It also demonstrates the World Bank’s dedication to ensuring that development projects are effective and responsive to the needs of the people they aim to serve.
