Addis Ababa, September 29, 2021 (FBC) – The Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State Education Bureau disclosed that violence happened last Ethiopian year in Metekel zone of the region caused a loss to 194 schools.
This came today at the opening of the 23rd regional state education conference undergoing in Assosa town.
Bureau head Biniyam Mengesha stated that during the conflict in Metekel Zone while 56 schools were completely destroyed 138 others incurred partial losses.
He noted that activities are underway to rebuild the schools, and a 10 year strategic plan is also under implementation to well undress the quality matters in the region. According to ENA, the schools destroyed include from primary up to secondary levels.
Deputy President of the region, Getahun Abdisa, called on stakeholders to collaborate in rehabilitating the schools and protecting the region’s peace being vigilant against the anti-peace elements like TPLF.
