Various countries across the globe observe Christmas today

Addis Ababa, January 7, 2023 (FBC) – Christians all over the world outside of Ethiopia are celebrating the Christmas holiday with various religious ceremonies.

The Ethiopian Christmas-Genna holiday celebrated with colorful religious ceremonies across the nation. The holiday was observed in Lalibela city with religious ceremonies led by priests at St. Mary’s Church on Christmas Eve and earlier today.

Most of the Orthodox Christians around the world follow the Julian calendar and celebrate Christmas on January 7th.

The two countries with the largest number of Orthodox Christian followers are Russia and Ukraine, according to BBC’s report. Eventhough the two countries are still fighting the biggest war in Europe since the Second World War, they are observing the Christmas celebrations today.

Hence, the Christmas holiday is being celebrated by most of the followers of the Orthodox faith in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and other areas of the planet.
