USAID, PMI support push to eliminate malaria from Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, April 26, 2021 (FBC) – USAID in partnership with the U.S. president’s Malaria Initiative have offered practical training to Ethiopian professionals on indoor residual sparing in support of efforts to eliminate malaria from the country.

USAID stated that indoor residual spraying is a cornerstone of malaria prevention in Ethiopia.

The training is said crucial to empower Ethiopian institutions to implement their own spraying programs to accelerate the push to eliminate malaria.

USAID in partnership with the U.S. president’s Malaria Initiative is utilizing the powerful influence of village trumpeters in Ethiopia to remind people to sleep under mosquito bed nets and seek health care if they experience high fever or other malaria symptoms.
