Addis Ababa, April 10, 2023 (FBC) – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through CARE has distributed lifesaving food aid to drought affected communities in Elwaya Woreda, Borena Zone of the Oromia region.
According to USAID, the food distribution is expected to benefit over 850,000 people to cope up with emergency food shortage.
Food distribution was carried out by the Joint Emergency Operation (JEOP), a USAID-funded Catholic Relief Services led consortium of emergency food security programs implemented in all 13 woredas of the zone, it has added.
It is stated that JEOP aims to save the lives and livelihoods of emergency affected rural Ethiopians by meeting their emergency food needs and protecting the assets of targeted households.
