Addis Ababa, September 20, 2022, (FBC) – House of Federation of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) declared the cooperation with the Forum of Federations has been fruitful.
The Upper House held discussion with the Federal Supreme Court, the Ministry of Peace, and the officials of the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs.
Speaker of the House, Agegnehu Teshager, who chaired the review of Forum of Federations’ key accomplishments in Ethiopia for the past five years and its next focus areas, stated that the tasks the House of Federation of FDRE has been carrying out in cooperation with the Forum of Federations have been effective.
The Speaker is chuffed with the cooperation in areas of peace building, institutional reform, constitutional interpretation and inter-governmental fiscal relations that the House has been carrying out in cooperation with the Forum.
Agegnehu emphasized that this cooperation should be consolidated in the areas of peace building, inter-governmental relations, inter-governmental fiscal transition and the interpretation of the constitution to strengthen the federal system.
He expressed his gratitude for the cooperation, especially in the field of inter-governmental fiscal relations for the strengthening of the state.
Zahara Umed, Deputy Speaker of the FDRE Upper House, said that scaling up the political participation of women will expand the participation of women in the federal system, so she requested the next forum to strengthen the capacity building work to empower women.
The officials of the Forum of Federations attended the review event in person and presented a summary report of the past 5 years accomplishments and its plan for the coming years.
Forum of Federations, based in Canada, is a coalition of forums of 10 federal countries and Ethiopia is a member country of the forum.
