UNSG António Guterres arrives in Addis Ababa to attend 36th AU Summit

Addis Ababa, February 17, 2023 (FBC) – António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, has arrived in Addis Ababa late last night to attend the 36th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.

State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Birtukan Ayano welcomed the UN Chief upon his arrival at Bole International Airport.

UNSG António Guterres is also expected to address the Opening of the 36th Ordinary Session of The Assembly of the African Union.

Leaders of African countries, various representatives of international organizations and countries cross the planet have arrived in Addis Ababa to attend in the 36th AU Summit.

The Assembly of Heads of State and Government will consider and make far-reaching decisions on various political and socio-economic areas to promote and advance the welfare and quality of life for the African citizenry.

The 42nd Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of African Union that attracted Foreign Ministers of the member states has concluded yesterday as part of the summit yesterday. Multiple sideline events are also scheduled to take place this week.
