Addis Ababa, November 1, 2021 (FBC) – State Minister Ambassador Birtukan Ayanseo had a meeting with UNICEF Regional Director for Eastern and Southern Africa, Mohamed M. M. Fall on Monday.
The two sides have exchanged views on the appointment of a new UNICEF country representative and other bilateral issues.
Ambassador Birtukan appreciated UNICEF’s support to Ethiopia’s national efforts to ensure the realization of the rights of children and women.
Ambassador Birtukan Ayano also expressed her belief that the staff of UNICEF would remain faithful to United Nations’ humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, and impartiality while operating in the country.
Ambassador Birtukan further called on UNICEF to continue supporting children, women, and displaced people in various parts of Ethiopia.
Mohamed, for his part, appreciated the Government of Ethiopia for its commitment to work together with UNICEF and support the organization’s efforts.
He underscored that UNICEF is committed to providing humanitarian support to vulnerable people in Ethiopia according to the laws and regulations of the country.
He also reiterated UNICEF’s commitment to extend its emergency relief support to food and non-food items to displaced people in the country.
