Addis Ababa, April 23, 2020 (FBC) -UNICEF Ethiopia has handed over medical supplies to the Ministry of Health to support Ethiopia’s response to the coronavirus (COVID19) pandemic.
Partially funded by UK’s Department for International Development (DFID), the medical equipment for health workers arrived in Ethiopia last week.
The medical supplies include masks, surgical gowns, face shields, coveralls and others medical equipment.
Adele Khodr, UNICEF Representative in Ethiopia, handed over the medical equipment to Ethiopia’s Minister of Health, Dr Lia Tadesse.
In her remarks, Khod said “UNICEF will continue to support the multi-sectoral public health COVID19 response.”
“Even during COVID19, we must ensure that the health care system continues to work for children, especially in immunization,” she said.
Dr Lia for her part thanked DFID and UNICEF for their timely contribution.
According to her, the donation will ensure that “our health workers support the COVID19 response and provide other important services.”
