Addis Ababa, October 16, 2024 (FBC) – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Ethiopia Country Programme Document (CPD 2025–2030) validation meeting jointly organized by the Ministry of Finance and the UN agency has been conducted at Skylight Hotel, in Addis Ababa, on Tuesday.
On the occasion, Ms. Mariko Kagoshima, UNICEF Deputy Representative, presented the proposed Country Programme to the high-level federal and regional government officials and representatives for their subsequent reflections.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Semereta Sewasew, State Minister of Finance, mentioned that the Country Programme is designed to support the most vulnerable people in Ethiopia through expanding access to health, education, child protection, climate resilient WASH and social protection services. It is expected that this solidifies Ethiopia’s cooperation with UNICEF on the most prioritized thematic areas.
The Country Programme, which is expected to be endorsed by the Executive Board of the UN agency in New York in February 2025, embraces mainly the key intervention areas and resource frameworks for the implementation period from 2025 to 2030 in federal and all regional governments with pledges of 808.5 million USD total resources, as reported today by Ethiopia’s Ministry of Finance.
