Addis Ababa, December 1, 2022 (FBC) – The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has announced that it will support Ethiopia’s digital transformation work and community radio capacity building.
The FDRE Minister of Innovation and Technology, Belete Molla, discussed with Tawfik Jelassi, Communication and Information Assistant Director at UNESCO.
During the discussion, the MoIT Minister called on UNESCO to support Ethiopia’s digital transformation endeavours.
He also requested UNESCO to provide support to Ethiopia in the rebuilding of community radio stations that were destroyed due to the conflict in the north.
These community radios are particularly important in helping the psychologically affected sections of the community. Hence the damaged community radios need to be rehabilitated and renovated, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology said.
Tawfik Jelassi confirmed that UNESCO will support Ethiopia’s digital transformation work and community radio maintenance and capacity building.
