Addis Ababa, June 27, 2022 (FBC) – Finance Bureau of the Amhara Region and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) have signed financial and in kind assistance agreement for rehabilitation and reconstruction works in the region.
Head of Finance Bureau of the Amhara Region Tilahun Mehari (PhD) and UNDP Ethiopia Representative Turhan Saleh have signed the agreement.
Tilahun said on the occasion that the finance will be used to reconstruct and rehabilitate social development infrastructures damaged by the war, calling other partners to follow examples of UNDP and assist rebuilding efforts in the region.
UNDP Representative Turhan Saleh, for his part, said many infrastructures including education, health and justice institutions have been damaged in the region due to the conflict pledging continued support to restore the facilities and support other development endeavors in the region.
Saying that many have been deprived of their businesses in the region due to the conflict, he added that UNDP will mainly support small and medium scale enterprises so as to back job creation efforts in the region. The support includes 14 field vehicles, laptops and computers and in cash financial assistance worth 6.2 million USD.
