Addis Ababa, July 4, 2023 (FBC) – A 30.2 million USD grant agreement signed between the Ministry of Finance of Ethiopia (MoF), the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The grant agreement is said to help Ethiopia build strong electoral system in order to achieve sustainable.
The Ministry of Finance has confirmed that the project has three objectives. The first objective is to strengthen NEBE’s organizational structure to conduct free, fair, participatory, credible and standardized elections and referendums.
The second objective is to foster the participation of women and youth in the election process together with civic institutions. The third objective of the project aims to create a conducive environment for free, fair and credible elections.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the project will be implemented in the next four years in Ethiopia.
It is said that the project is believed to contribute to the establishment of sustainable democracy by strengthening the electoral system of the country.
