Addis Ababa December 28, 2022 (FBC) – A National Conference under the theme “Women’s Equal and Effective Participation in Political and Public Life: an imperative for inclusive democracy and sustainable development” is being held by Ethiopian Human Rights Commission and United Nations’ Women Ethiopian country office.
The conference includes panel discussions on Women in Leadership and Governance it also discloses a research findings on “impact of conflict on women’s participation in public life” reflections on women in local government in Ethiopia and Good practices and lessons learned from East and Southern Africa on Women’s leadership in Local government.
On the national conference UN Women’s Women in Leadership and Governance Program Lead, Desset Abebe, stated that the conference aims to bring researchers and practitioners so that research findings are not shelved, and recommendations are used to fuel action to promote the participation of women in politics.
She called on all the stakeholders in the entire electoral process as well as in political parties, including by availing financial incentive for parties that bring more women to the forefront.

The second panel is discussing research on “organizational culture and women’s participation in politics and Public life ” and “Unpaid care work and women’s participation in public life” has also followed.
