Addis Ababa, April 12, 2023 (FBC) – The UN Secretary-General António Guterres has praised Ethiopian Peacekeeping forces in Somalia for their commitment in ensuring peace in the region.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres has visited a camp in Baidoa, south-west Somalia, for people displaced by the drought and by fighting between al Shabaab, an al Qaeda affiliate, and government forces.
The UN Secretary-General said that the country is suffering from the impact of a climate crisis, as a full-blown famine threatens to follow a drought.
According to Ethiopian Defense Force, the visit of the UN chief aims to appeal for international humanitarian support for the country, as it battles a devastating drought and insurgency.
