Addis Ababa, January 10, 2025 (FMC) — The government of the United Kingdom has congratulated Ethiopia on the launch of the country’s new stock exchange – Ethiopian Stock Exchange.
It is worth noting that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed launched the Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX), a major step toward modernizing the country’s financial sector, today 10th January 2025 in the presence of senior government officials and Addis Ababa-based diplomats.
In light of this development, the UK’s Minister for Africa, Baron Collins of Highbury, has sent his congratulatory message to the Ethiopian Ministry of Finance on this historic moment.
In a message published on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Minister also reiterated that the UK is committed to working together with Ethiopia to boost economic growth.
He also met today with Ethiopian Ambassador to the UK, Bruk Mekonnen, to celebrate the Ethiopia-UK collaboration in action.
