Addis Ababa, May 26, 2021 (FBC) – The United States handed over 33 vehicles and an array of medical and healthcare supplies worth 3.5 million USD to the Tigray Regional Health Bureau.
The donation is part of broader USAID support to help health workers provide critical care to people affected by the ongoing crisis in the region.
The vehicles will enable health workers to travel to communities where services are not available, distribute medical supplies where possible, and transport patients to health centers to receive specialized care including safe childbirth for expecting mothers, U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa said.
“The United States remains fully committed to working with our partners to reach as many people affected by the Tigray crisis as possible. These vehicles and medical supplies will equip health workers with the necessities they need to provide life-saving care to children, women and families who would otherwise remain beyond reach due to the prolonged conflict,” said USAID Ethiopia Mission Director Sean Jones.
