Addis Ababa, October 4, 2024 (FBC) – Minister of Agriculture Girma Amente (PhD), recently met with U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia, Ervin Massinga, to discuss ongoing agricultural cooperation between Ethiopia and the United States.
During their discussion, Minister Girma highlighted key areas of focus including crop production, soil fertility, and efforts to combat soil acidity.
He also covered best practices in seed production, the importance of agricultural mechanization, and initiatives related to agricultural production and rural land use proclamations.
Topics like forestry, soil fertilizer supply, and agricultural sampling were also on the agenda. Furthermore, they shared insights on enhancing coffee cultivation productivity.
The minister expressed gratitude for the U.S. government’s comprehensive support for Ethiopia’s agriculture sector, including budget assistance from the USAID and the Feed the Future program.
Ambassador Massinga acknowledged Ethiopia’s initiatives in agriculture and reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to providing support and collaborating on efforts to modernize the sector and boost productivity.
